Reading this page collects nothing
No cookies are set. No analytics run. Nothing is stored in your browser. Nothing about your visit is recorded by me, and there is no tracking to opt out of because there is none to begin with.
The only personal data I hold is an email address, and only if you typed it into the mailing list form yourself.
What this site does not do
- No cookies. Not essential ones, not any. That is also why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom, nothing. I do not know how many people read this.
- No tracking pixels, no advertising, no profiling, and nothing is sold or shared with anybody.
- No third-party requests when a page loads. Every image, font and style comes from this domain. The videos on the portfolio page show a still and a play button that are served from here; YouTube is contacted only after you press play.
- No JavaScript, apart from the structured data search engines read, which does nothing in your browser.
Two things sit outside that. If you press play on a video, it loads from YouTube’s no-cookie domain, and from that moment YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to what you do in the player. If you follow a link out to YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn or the Internet Archive, you are on their site and their terms apply, not mine.
If you give me your email address
- Who holds it. Kyle Newton, an individual in London. I am the data controller. info@kylenewton.co.uk.
- What I collect. Your email address. That is the only field on the form, and there is no hidden one that fills itself in.
- Why. To email you about editing videos for retention. Nothing else.
- On what basis. Your consent, given by submitting the form. You can withdraw it at any time and that costs you nothing.
- Who else sees it. Two companies, both acting on my instructions and neither free to do anything else with it. The form is handled by Netlify, who host this site, so your submission is stored on their systems; Netlify is a United States company, so that copy leaves the UK. It is then passed to MailerLite, who hold the mailing list, send the confirmation email and provide the unsubscribe link in everything I send. MailerLite is an Irish company and its data centre is in the European Union. Nobody else sees it and it is never sold, rented or shared.
- Nothing is sent until you confirm. When you submit the form you get one email asking you to confirm the address. Until you click the link in it you are not on the list, and if you never click it, nothing else is ever sent to you.
- How long. While you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it, it goes, apart from the bare minimum needed to make sure you are not added back by mistake. If you have not opened anything for 2 years I delete it or ask whether you still want it. There is no period set in law for this: the rule is that I choose one I can justify, review it, and never keep anything indefinitely.
What you can ask me to do
You can ask for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. You can withdraw your consent, object to me using it, ask me to stop using it while something is sorted out, or ask for it in a portable format. There is no charge and you do not have to give a reason.
Email info@kylenewton.co.uk and I will do it. The law gives me a month; in practice it is one address in one list and it will not take that long.
If you are not happy with how I have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk. You can go to them directly and you do not need to come to me first.
